UB40
Formed in 1978 by a group of friends from the multicultural Balsall Heath area of Birmingham, UB40 (named after the era's unemployment benefit form) fused reggae with the political urgency of post-industrial Britain. They went on to become one of the best-selling reggae acts in history, carrying Birmingham's reggae scene onto the global stage.
